Archdiocesan Disciple Maker Index Survey Period
Your voice matters. Shape the future of St. Peter’s.
St. Peters’ future is evolving alongside the other 211 parishes within the Archdiocese of Newark. Cardinal Tobin’s We Are His Witnesses letter outlines new pathways for the future of our Archdiocese, which involves examining how parishes might best consolidate and share their resources for a vibrant future.
Our commitment to Christ’s vision for missionary discipleship is the lifeline for our parish to thrive and grow in faith together. With that, the first step of this process invites you to take the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) survey — an important tool that lets you reflect on your faith journey at St. Peter’s and provide feedback on our parish. Your input will help our leaders assess parish health and identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for the future. We are counting on your participation!
Please take the DMI survey here beginning Saturday, April 26, 2025. If you prefer a paper copy, you may request and return one at the Rectory or at the Welcome Desk after Sunday Masses.
This year, we’ll be using this DMI survey in lieu of our own annual parish feedback survey. Last year, our survey resulted in actionable changes such as creating more ongoing faith formation opportunities for adults, including mini retreats and Bible study groups. We look forward to reviewing your DMI survey responses and sharing results in the coming months.
We are blessed by this St. Peter’s community and appreciate your participation as we strive to grow in missionary discipleship. Your voice matters as we grow together in faith. Thank you, and please pray for this intention and for the growth and protection of our parish.

Last day to register for 2025 Anniversary Mass

To register for this mass please call the rectory at 201-261-3366 by May 10, 2025.

Respect Life Mother's Day Baby Shower 2025
At all masses the weekend of May 10/11, 2025, the Respect Life Ministry is sponsoring the parish's annual "Baby Shower" for expectant mothers in crisis pregnancies. We are collecting diapers, baby clothing, blankets, and monetary donations. Please bring only new items to the Gathering Space and make any checks payable to "St. Peter The Apostle Parish."
All items and monies will be donated to local crisis pregnancy centers. These centers offer invaluable counseling services and resources to expectant mothers in need. Every year, our parish is able to make a tremendous contribution to these young families.
Please note that diapers (any sizes) are ALWAYS in need and monetary contributions will go a long way in helping those in need.
Thanks in advance for your extraordinary generosity this year!

Fair Trade Sale (May 10/11th)
Equal Exchange goods such as coffee, tea, chocolate and nuts will be available for purchase after all Masses in the Gathering Space.
Buying from fair trade sales supports ethical and sustainable practices in global trade. Fair trade ensures that farmers — often in developing countries — receive fair wages, work in safe conditions, and have access to community development funds. This approach helps combat poverty and promotes environmental sustainability to protect God’s earth.
Organized by the Advocacy for Peace and Justice Ministry.

Community Saturday 5/10
Stick around after the 5pm Mass for Community Saturday in the Parish Center — where faith and friendships pair perfectly.
This monthly wine & cheese social is hosted by the community, for the community. It’s a great opportunity for parishioners to wrap up or kick off their Saturday night with the good company of this faith community.
Sign up for your turn to help host 🙋🙋♂️
Volunteers for Community Saturday can sign up to help host by bringing wine or drinks and/or an appetizer. It is also a great opportunity to reach out to your fellow parishioners to help host. Apps can be quick and easy or elaborate as you would like. You can bring wine and appetizers to the Parish Center kitchen before Mass, which has a fridge to keep things cold.
We will supply the cups, small plates, napkins, and wine opener. Please feel free to bring whatever else you may like. We look forward to seeing you and your family!

Support a St. Peter's High Schooler at Vision 2025 (Donate by May 11th)
St. Peter’s is thrilled to share that 17 of our high school students will attend Notre Dame Vision 2025—a 5-day summer faith retreat held on Notre Dame’s beautiful campus.
To support them, we’re launching a Ministry Partnership: an opportunity for parishioners to help cover the cost of airfare (around $650–$800 per student). No gift is too small — it will all go towards supporting our youth! In return, each donor will be paired with a student who will pray for them or their intentions throughout the retreat—including at sacred sites like the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. After the retreat, students will write thank-you letters sharing how the experience impacted their faith.
How to Donate:
Venmo St. Peter’s (write Vision 2025 in the description)
Check payable to St. Peter the Apostle with Vision 2025 in the memo (drop off at the rectory)
Prefer to stay anonymous? No problem—just note it when donating.
Deadline: Sunday, May 11th
Thank you for investing in the spiritual growth of our youth! If you have any questions, please reach out to Hannah Schmitz at hschmitz@saint-peter.org.

Mass Intentions Book for 2026 Opens
Every year, the opening of a new Mass Intentions Book invites parishioners to reserve dates for dedicating Masses in memory of their deceased loved ones over the next year — often selected on special anniversary dates which are important to them. The name will be printed under Masses for the Week in the weekly bulletin, and read aloud for prayer during Mass.
Because we are a large parish and Mass dates are limited, we arrange a special process to do our best accommodating everyone’s requests. The morning of Thursday, May 22nd from 9:30am-12pm is when requests will first be processed in the Parish Center — on a first come, first serve basis — by bringing in the form and a minimum $10 donation per dedication. Only three Mass intentions per parishioner will be allowed on the day the Mass book opens. Any mailed-in requests will be processed afterwards.
Please refer to the 2026 Guidelines for detailed information, which includes the downloadable form to record your Mass intention requests to bring with you to the Parish Center on May 22nd.

Mary’s FIAT: Let it be done
The Growing in Faith Book Club and the Rosary Society have joined forces to offer you a morning of sharing and nourishment, both physical and spiritual.
All women are welcome to join us on Saturday, May 3, 2025. We will start with Mass at 9am, followed by a full breakfast in the Parish Center and continuing with a mini retreat led by Joanne O’Neill about Mary, Mother of God and her acceptance of God’s will. We will conclude around 2pm.
When God willed to become human, God had to decide on the time of His coming, the country in which He would be born, the city in which He would be raised, the people, the race, the political and economic systems that would surround Him, and the language He would speak. All these details would depend entirely on one factor: the woman who would be His mother. It would depend on Mary’s FIAT - Let it Be Done.
The cost is $15.00 per person. Your payment will serve as our RSVP! Please drop off your payment at the rectory no later than Monday, April 28th.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on May 3rd!

Easter Food Blessing
Join us in the blessing of your Easter food at 11am in the chapel on Holy Saturday, April 19, 2025. You’re invited to bring your Easter baskets of meats, breads, decorated eggs, jelly beans, chocolates, etc. to be blessed in the chapel.
The custom of blessing food for Easter arose from the discipline of fasting throughout Lent and the special Easter fast during the Triduum. Easter was the first day when meat, eggs, and other foods could again be eaten.
Swieconka (sh-vee-soon-kah) is one of the most enduring and beloved Eastern European traditions. Baskets containing a sampling of Easter food are brought to the church to be blessed on Holy Saturday. The basket is traditionally lined with a white linen or lace napkin and decorated with sprigs of boxwood, the typical Easter evergreen. Special pride is taken in preparing a decorative and tasteful basket with crisp linens, occasionally embroidered for the occasion, and just enough boxwood and ribbon woven through the handle. Observing the foods and creations of other parishioners is one of the special joys of the event.
