A Service of Lessons and Carols

The Music Ministry at Saint Peter’s is excited to present a service of Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 17th, 2023 at 4pm in the church. The Saint Peter’s Children’s Choir, Adult Choir, along with guest soloists and instrumentalists will be joined by readers and clergy to lead us through this beautiful traditional service.

Lessons and Carols is a service of scripture and song that dates back to Christmas Eve in 1880 at Truro Cathedral in England. There are nine short scripture readings which recount the fall from grace in the Garden of Eden, the promise of a Messiah, the birth of Jesus, and the giving of the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each lesson is followed by music and traditional carols that reflect on the lesson's message.
