Lent Pray40: The Return

This Lent, we invite you to join Hallow’s Lent Pray40 prayer challenge, beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 18. Available on our parish page in the Hallow app — with or without a subscriptionLent Pray40 is an opportunity for our entire parish community to journey together in daily prayer and reflection throughout Lent.

Join the challenge on our parish page on the Hallow App, or get started at hallow.com/parish.

Lent Pray40: The Return

Join Jonathan Roumie, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Mark Wahlberg, Chris Pratt, Mother Olga, Sister Miriam, Jeff Cavins, and more this Lent for Pray40 — a journey back home to the Father with The Brothers Karamazov and the Return of the Prodigal Son by Fr. Henri Nouwen. We’ll see how Dostoevsky’s famous novel brings the Parable of the Prodigal Son to life like never before, showing us how we’re all farther from God than we need to be. The good news is God is waiting for us each with open arms, running out to meet us while we are still a long way off. We’ll step into the lives of the characters together and discover the ways their struggles and brokenness mirror our own. We’ll let go of what holds us back, return home to the Lord, and let Him send us out as His hands and feet. Join us today.

Equal Exchange goods such as coffee, tea, chocolate and nuts will be available for purchase after all Masses in the Gathering Space.

Buying from fair trade sales supports ethical and sustainable practices in global trade. Fair trade ensures that farmers — often in developing countries — receive fair wages, work in safe conditions, and have access to community development funds. This approach helps combat poverty and promotes environmental sustainability to protect God’s earth.

Lenten Evenings of Peace & Friendship 3/18

Join us for Lenten Evenings of Peace & Friendship beginning on Tuesday, February 17th and continuing weekly on Tuesdays 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/24 and Wednesday, 3/18. Sessions are from 7:30 to 9:00 PM both in-person in the Chapel and virtually via Zoom.

The result is a better understanding of the lessons and sacrifices of Jesus Christ — all while preparing ourselves to celebrate His Resurrection.

Care Kits for the Homeless

Care Kits for the Homeless

Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.
— Hebrews 13:2

As we reflect on the Corporal Work of Mercy Shelter the Homeless during the week of March 15th, we as a parish will assemble care kits for neighbors experiencing homelessness. This is a simple, do-it-yourself service project — just follow the care kit instructions and return your completed kit(s) to the Gathering Space anytime between March 15–22.

How to Make a Care Kit

Fill a one gallon-size plastic bag with:

  • Socks (1 pair of adult size)

  • Rain poncho (1 adult size disposable)

  • Personal care items (Choose several or all of these: Fabric bandages, Wet wipes, Antibacterial hand wipes, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Dental floss, Deodorant, Lotion, Lip balm or Chapstick, Tissues, Comb, Nail clipper)

  • Wrapped snack (Choose at least one of these: Raisins or other dried fruit, Crackers with peanut butter or cheese, Applesauce, Soft protein bar or granola bar, Tuna/cracker packs)

  • A caring note (1 note of encouragement or scripture passage)

Please only include items that are on the list and in new condition. When possible, choose products that are unscented, travel-size and individually packed.

Care kits will be distributed to patients experiencing homelessness at University Hospital in Newark after receiving care through the outpatient Infectious Diseases Clinic or Emergency Department. Offered after a medical visit, these kits are a small but meaningful sign of hospitality—offering practical needs, comfort and encouragement to those facing health challenges alongside unstable housing. Thank you for showing your care!

Fair Trade Sale (March 14/15)

Equal Exchange goods such as coffee, tea, chocolate and nuts will be available for purchase after all Masses in the Gathering Space.

Buying from fair trade sales supports ethical and sustainable practices in global trade. Fair trade ensures that farmers — often in developing countries — receive fair wages, work in safe conditions, and have access to community development funds. This approach helps combat poverty and promotes environmental sustainability to protect God’s earth.

Organized by the Advocacy for Peace and Justice Ministry.

Stations of the Cross 3/13

Each Friday during Lent, you are invited to walk prayerfully with Christ along the way of His Passion—from Pilate’s praetorium to the tomb. Through the 14 Stations of the Cross, we journey together with Scripture, meditation, and quiet reflection. Booklets will be provided to guide your prayer, and the service may vary each week as a different ministry leads it.

All are welcome to take part in this meaningful Lenten devotion—a sacred opportunity to slow down, pray deeply, and enter more fully into the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice and love.
